A determination to write on a daily basis not only looks like a challenging task. It looks impossible.
But that’s just it….it looks. It’s not exactly impossible.
Why? Because there are people who have done it. And they didn’t die.
I guess this is the same thing with other aspects of life. There are many things we want to do but somehow it all “looks” impossible.
“I’d like to go watch a movie…but that’s so impossible right now. I’ve got so much work to do. Perhaps I’ll do it next month.”
“I’d like to learn French. Sounds fascinating to me. But I can’t do it. No time.”
“How I love design. But I’m stuck with this accounting job. It’s impossible to find the time needed to play with colours.”
And so on.
What happens next? We trap ourselves, leave it till much later till impossibility gains ground in our lives.
For example, perhaps you’ve been putting off basketball tryouts. Well try playing basketball at 90 years.
While some things need to be forgone to make way for more important things in life, satisfying cravings determine just how exciting life is for us.
So go scratch that itch, one day at a time, in the most “minimalistic” way possible. You’ll be better off for it.
Start somewhere, the same way I only had the first sentence in mind when I started this piece. At this point, I don’t even have a headline yet. That’s what getting started can do to you.
