The fact that you’re moving forward in a specific direction doesn’t mean you’re making progress.
For all it’s worth, you could be moving in the wrong direction. How is that then progress if you’ll only end up at a wrong destination?
As humans, we like the hustle of daily living. But be careful not to hustle wrongly.
Stagnancy sometimes looks like a bad thing, but if God tells you at a point in time to “sit and wait”, then you’re making progress by sitting and waiting.
Progress is only clearly defined when two conditions match:
1. The journey
2. The destination
If the journey you’re on wouldn’t get you to the destination you’re supposed to reach, then the progress you think you’re making is flawed.
Abraham termed himself a wanderer (Genesis 20:13). A wanderer is not necessarily someone who likes traveling.
At least people who like traveling know where they’re going and why.
A wanderer has no purpose for traveling. A bystander would look at Abraham, shake his head and pity his generation for having such a purposeless human as a father.
But Abraham was making progress because he not only obeyed God’s instruction, he also accumulated wealth as he wandered and eventually reached the desired end as father of many nations.
Are you sure you’re making progress?
