Big is scary. Small is despicable.
This is the perception that makes people who want to start big to stop in their tracks. They can’t start small because to them, it shows unseriousness. They can’t start big because they don’t have the capital.
So, they don’t do jack and blame it on the “bigness” of their dreams.
In Matthew 14 and 15, the crowd was large and scary. The number of fish and bread available was small and despicable.
To the disciples, the best thing would be to not serve any food at all.
Jesus thought differently. And He shows us what to do if we choose to start small:
1. Start small
2. Give thanks
3. Don’t act small
