On my way back from a meeting earlier this week, a lady with two children approached me and asked for 50 bucks because she needed food for her family.
I don't understand where the compassion came from, but I gave her more than she asked. This led to a lot of prostrating and thank you's from the children on the roadside. I was blushing and at the same time felt embarrassed.
Begging is now a business transaction. Once you give a beggar money, you just paid for services rendered and the service provider (the beggar) just moves on to the next potential client. For this reason, being approached by some just creates a feeling of anger and disgust.
Despite that fact, people who are really in need exist. Unfortunately, they're mixed up with the "business men", it's hard to know who is telling the truth.
If there was an app I could use to scan their faces and only give to the genuine ones, I'd download it, because giving isn't something you want to stop doing. And the feeling of compassion is not something you want to forget in a hurry.
Jesus Christ was only really able to help multitudes because of the compassion He felt for them.
Unfortunately, there's no truth app that can grant my wish. The only app I know of that can help you discern spirits, recognise truth and build up compassion in you is the Holy Spirit.
